The OATLALI first tournament was a success

OATLALI first tournament was hosted in Roman Catholic church in Zwelethemba Worcester, Western Cape in year 2019 of the 27th July, and it was a complete success though it was not expected. There was no much expectations As the tournament almost become a failure due to the lack of support from people of Zwelethemba or OATLALI was still a new game, so they didn't see a reason to suppose what they are not familiar with. Others have bad reasons or excuses not to support, reason like " I won't leave booze for that stupid game, we are not kids, we don't have time for nonsense and so on. But Moeketsi and his wife Yamkelwa didn't give up, they managed to get all the support they needed for the tournament to go on. They handed over medals and certificate of participation to very single one who participated in OATLALI tournament, also gave away money prizes to the winner from their pocket without any kind of sponsorship. Please keep on visiting this blog and share with other.. lots of thanks.               HOW TO PLAY OATLALI At the start of the game each player has to place his or her 22 pieces on thier respective first three rows, starting with the king and follow by any other pieces one-by-one or they can use the game's own custom formation in the setup. After both players have done then the game starts with the white player making the first move. Just like Shogi a player can use the opponent's piece which was previously captured. Every piece beside the king have two-sides, black and white sides allowing players to be able to use each other's pieces that they have previously captured. Now I will list OATLALI principles, just like any board game, it has it's one and they are much simpler with the principles of every chess game, since it is oa chess variant.                        OATLALI PRINCIPLES 1. Try to develop your pieces quickly. 2. Develop your horse towards the centre,     and don't push it in enemy territory      without a backup. 3. Think before you act, no unnecessary       move, always act with purpose. 4. Make sure you the one who is in control      of the centre. 5. who created OATLALI (South African chess game)

OATLALI also known as Oali or south African chess was created by a young man in early 30s called Moeketsi Mohlakola, which he hopes it will well-known around the world. Moeketsi Mohlakola is staying in Western Cape based in Worcester, in a location called Zwelethemba. OATLALI is a mixture of his three children's Sesotho names Oarona, Oatile and Tlali. He is a artist, graphic designer and work as a warden for Department of Correctional Services' Brandvlei Management area. He likes to play different chess variant and other strategy board games as a hobby. He built his first board game out of pieces from an old closet in his house, and used bird cage sticks to make the characters of pieces which he painted.  He got the inspiration from playing different chess variants, especially Shogi the Japanese chess. OATLALI is a new South African chess,a two player turn based strategy board game, played on a nine-by-nine board. Each player consists of 22 pieces, just like any other chess game it's objective is to checkmate the opponent's king. OATLALI was created in 2019 by Moeketsi Mohlakola. It was inspired by other chess games around the world. Games like Shogi, Xaingqi, Janggi, Makruk, Chess ect. And also by other strategy board games like Gomoki, Othello, Hnefatafle Morabaraba and many more. Even though it is created in nowadays it is based on ancient South African warfare including Africa as whole long before Europeans colonized mother Africa. As said that each player consists of 22 pieces, the are 8 types of piece.
