how to play the OATLALI the second style?
As OATLALI have this variants of its own here I'm about to show you how to play the second style. It does have name yet but if there is someone how can give name for this style please do so.
I won't be explaining about what is OATLALI, as I did from the first post of this blog. Those how don't know please go to the first post and read there. I'll be introducing the characters and their abilities, meaning the movements.
PIECES AND MOVEMENTS
king is the post important piece of the game and fragile as well. It can move one step vertical, horizontal and diagonal.
General my not look strong but is so useful around its king. It moves one or two steps vertical, horizontal and diagonal.
Wizard is the most strongest piece of the game. It moves vertical and diagonal without any restriction of each move.
Horse is no different than the knight from chess. It moves one step horizontal then one step diagonal or one step vertical then one step diagonal. It can also jump over other pieces.
Rook also doesn't have any difference with the Rook from the chess. It moves horizontal and vertical with no restriction of each move.
Healer is the bishop of this game. It move diagonal with no restriction of each move.
Spear is also one of the power pieces, it moves like a Rook vertical and horizontal with no restriction of each move, but the interesting part about this piece, it can only fly over one friendly piece and cannot attack another spear.
Pawn might be a weakest piece of the game but it is the soul of the game. It moves one step forward and wait for the next turn. It only attack enemy piece that is in front of it just like Shogi pawn do. It gets aggressive when it reach the seventh rank, gets the ability to also move one step horizontal.
It get promoted when it reached the last or nine rank and get the abilities of a general, one or two steps vertical, horizontal and diagonal. When it gets promoted the enemy has to crown it with a friend pawn which was captured.
this is how you play the second style of OATLALI. Just the basics, you will develop you own strategy.
