The OATLALI first tournament was a success

OATLALI first tournament was hosted in Roman Catholic church in Zwelethemba Worcester, Western Cape in year 2019 of the 27th July, and it was a complete success though it was not expected.
There was no much expectations As the tournament almost become a failure due to the lack of support from people of Zwelethemba or OATLALI was still a new game, so they didn't see a reason to suppose what they are not familiar with.
Others have bad reasons or excuses not to support, reason like " I won't leave booze for that stupid game, we are not kids, we don't have time for nonsense and so on.

But Moeketsi and his wife Yamkelwa didn't give up, they managed to get all the support they needed for the tournament to go on.
They handed over medals and certificate of participation to very single one who participated in OATLALI tournament, also gave away money prizes to the winner from their pocket without any kind of sponsorship.
With they little support they got they didn't back down, they did what ever it's for the tournament to be a success.


Few days later more and more people came a gave their support, and will to learn and play OATLALI as they saw the updatas from Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

We wish to get more support all over South African and worldwide to make this awesome  invention a reality of many people. And we believe that it will also change lots of people's lives.

OATLALI (South African chess game)

OATLALI is a new South African chess,a two player turn based strategy board game, played on a nine-by-nine board. Each player consists of 22 pieces, just like any other chess game it's objective is to checkmate the opponent's king. OATLALI was created in 2019 by Moeketsi Mohlakola, developed by Ndimphiwe Sityata. And it was inspired by other chess games around the world. Games like Shogi, Xaingqi, Janggi, Makruk, Chess ect.
